We as human beings, crave for connections.
We are called social creatures for this particular reason, and a rare few of us go through a stage of metamorphosis and emerged as social butterflies but most of us are content to remind as caterpillars; That's beside the point.
National Service is a robbery, it robs me of the connection I have with life.
Weekdays are gone, most of the time spent living in fear of spending weekends in camp. And fucked up regulars love to play with this fear because what else is more important to a NSF other than bookouts?
I cringe every time they talk about protecting my loved ones through serving NS.
I can protect them without!
Simply put them on board a plane and fly them out of trouble.
Isn't that a form of protection as well? keeping them out of harm's way.
No need for me to wallow in muds, do road marches or use up 2 years of my time.
I know I sound like someone that skipped National Education classes back in Schools
or just another Singapore male whining about NS. But this whole thing to me is just too thought provoking. Well, at least I am THINKING and not serving mindlessly.
